Option K

Malbank Sixth Form College aims to provide a pre-University experience and in the spirit of a modern University we reserve Wednesday period 5 for you to take part in a variety of sports events.

This year has seen the introduction of a sixth form Rugby and Benchball team, sometimes competing just for fun and often against other colleges in the local area.

This period also offers us the chance to have extra 1-1 support time for students needing additional help.

Work Experience

All students at Malbank Sixth form are allocated a week of study time in July of year 12 to undertake work experience. The beauty f engaging in such a programme at this stage is that it sets you up for UCAS with a relevant and recent experience and allows you access to a far wider range of choices than may have been available to students whilst in KS4. Our aim is always to help students to set up a personalised experience ideal for helping them achieve their future goals. As such, work experience at Malbank is something we take seriously, ensuring it is something that has a positive
impact on you and helps you move forward.

The "Free for all" programme is our  unique initiative which  asks students to give something back to the
"community" to expand their horizons with rewarding experiences whilst
promoting Sixth formers as aspirational positive role models to our lower
school pupils.

The concept is simple, students choose one of their free
periods over the course of the two week timetable to give back to support
others. This usually comes in the form of supporting one of your chosen
subjects as an unofficial teaching assistant in lower school lessons or
performing a role to benefit our school and sixth form community.

From a personal perspective the system offers you the
chance to add something unique and selflessly to your CV, giving you the edge
for UCAS and at the same time hopefully providing you with a sense of
satisfaction by giving your time to help others.

UCAS apply day

Need help organising your future? Finding the application process too much to handle? Not does our PSE programme support the UCAS application every step of the way, complimenting the support of the PSM in 1-1 meetings, we also offer a special application clinic day to complete all elements of the process and produce a personal statement to stun admissions tutors nationwide!

Science Iceland Expedition2014 saw the first Malbank expedition to the ‘Land of Fire and Ice', twenty two students made the trip to Iceland and experienced incredible landscapes created by one of the most active volcanic regions in the world. A varied schedule of awe inspiring natural features such as the geysirs, waterfalls, glaciers and black sand beaches; educational visits like the farm in the shadow of ‘the' volcano and a huge geothermal PowerStation; relaxation in the natural spa the Blue Lagoon; or late-night walks to see the Northern Lights. It is an action-packed, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that is not to be missed.
