Key Stage 3

Key Stage 3

Key Stage 3 Languages

Year 7

All pupils learn French in mixed ability form groups. They have five lessons per fortnight. Topics include introducing and describing yourself, family, pets, home and local environment, hobbies and leisure time.

Year 8

All pupils continue to learn French and  are invited to choose a second language- either German or Spanish. They have three lessons of French and three lessons of the second language per fortnight. Topics covered in Year 8 include television, social life, clothes, food and shopping, as well as an introduction to using different tenses.

Year 9

In Year 9, pupils continue to study two languages. Topics studied include holidays, healthy lifestyle, media, education and future plans.

Throughout Key Stage 3 pupils are regularly assessed in all four skill areas and their progress is closely monitored. Peer assessment is a key part of all KS3 lessons.
