Key Stage 3

Key Stage 3 Languages

Year 7

All pupils learn French in mixed ability form groups. They have five lessons per fortnight. Topics include introducing and describing yourself, family, pets, home and local environment, hobbies and leisure time.

Year 8

All pupils continue to learn French and  are invited to choose a second language- either German or Spanish. They have three lessons of French and three lessons of the second language per fortnight. Topics covered in Year 8 include television, social life, clothes, food and shopping, as well as an introduction to using different tenses. At the end of year 8, pupils single out one language for year 9.

Year 9

In Year 9, pupils study one language. After one bridge-in unit, they start an early GCSE.
