Malbank Sixth Form College

Welcome to Malbank Sixth Form: a vibrant educational facility with a track record of outstanding academic success, the perfect place to further your education and pursue your ambitions.

We have a wide and varied curriculum, with over 30 very well established A level courses to choose from and an ever expanding range of BTEC subjects to add a different dimension to our provision. All subjects are delivered by an experienced and dedicated team of staff, who offer many experiences beyond the classroom. Our programmes of study offer a rich diet of experiences, from field studies and theatre visits, to cultural experiences and varied learning opportunities.

Every year, over 150 students choose to study courses at Malbank. Alongside the traditional A Levels you would expect to find, Malbank offers a wide range of courses, ranging from Law and Politics to Graphics and Psychology. You will also find a full range of performance subjects, including Performing Arts, Music, Music Technology, Theatre Studies and Dance. Students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of sports and enrichment activities, from the ever-popular football, rugby and benchball teams, to fancy-dress fund raising for Barnardo's.

Our Sixth Formers enjoy the use of a range of specialist facilities. The 6th Form Block is home to two quiet study rooms, a common room and a recently refurbished 6th Form Café bar. The school's Olympic Boulevard, containing a Wi-Fi coffee shop for 6th form students to use in their non-contact time and a state of the art gymnasium is another location on site featuring superb facilities for our students. WiFi is also available to students in the Sixth Form block free of charge.

One of our core beliefs at Malbank is the need for Students to be at the forefront of decision making and leadership. As such, our university-styled student Union ensures students are given a true voice and the opportunity to make decisions that effect their experience at Malbank on a daily basis. Our head boy and girl who are appointed upon interview head up a team of elected team members, with roles ranging from sport, press, charity, social and culture secretaries.

In additional to independence and the chance to lead, we also know the enormous value of having personalised support for each student throughout their two year journey, support which we truly see as central to helping people achieve their goals. Every student is allocated a Personal Study Mentor, with whom they meet once a fortnight. The PSM will help you maintain progress, be a sounding board for your ideas and ambitions, provide pastoral support and academic challenge. They are with you every step of the way, from getting to grips with the academic challenge of A Levels, to guiding you through the University application process. PSMs take pride in working in close partnership with students, subject specialists, the 6th form team and parents to bring about personal achievement and academic success.

Our downloadable prospectus (see the button below!) is aimed to provide a starting point for your Post 16 decisions. We would be delighted to welcome you on our information evening in the autumn term, or to show you around the college in a working day. Every applicant is invited to an individual advice and guidance session. At any point in your decision making process, our friendly and experienced Key Stage 5 team will be happy to answer any of your questions, whether it be about choosing the right combination of subjects, or finding out more about life at Malbank Sixth Form.

Studying at Sixth Form cannot and should never be purely about examinations and what makes Malbank unique is our unrelenting approach to ensure you achieve academic success alongside enriching your life and broadening your horizons to make you the best you can be in every way. Good luck with your GCSE examinations. We very much hope to hear from you again in the future and it would be a pleasure to welcome you into our programme of study next September.
