STUDENT SUPPORT

Worried about making the transition to 'A' Level, or settling in to a new environment? Don't be - at Malbank we pride ourselves on taking care of the individual.

From the moment you first enquire about courses on our information evenings, to your induction into the sixth form, through to your final examinations, you will receive advice, support and encouragement that are second to none.

Our dedicated specialist staff is on hand every step of the way to help you adapt to the demands of higher level study. They recognise that young adults have a lot to cope with, balancing new knowledge with the demands of coursework, modular exams, part-time jobs, and still squeezing in a social life.

You will have access to expert guidance from a personal tutor. As you face up to important choices it's a comfort to know there are people here to listen, help and advise.

On top of this the well qualified teaching staff who deliver our wide range of courses have proven track record of success. They will clearly signpost the way to success in their subjects and provide assistance with revision and exam technique.

PERSONAL TUTOR

The tutorial system is your lifeline. You'll be allocated a Personal Tutor to help you out with day to day problems and advice. Once a week there is an extended form session where a range activities talks and events are arranged to provide information and guidance on issues such as:

  • How to study effectively
  • Coping with exam stress
  • Choosing a University
  • Getting into employment
  • Taking a Year out
  • Organising your finance

CAREERS

Students have access to a Connexions advisor on site. You can find out jobs, H.E. courses and gap year projects through a formal interview or browse the well stocked careers libraries. In addition, there are opportunities for work experience, higher education visits and careers conferences throughout your time at Malbank.

HEALTH AND WELFARE

We are also there to support you with any health and welfare issues that may arise during your time at Malbank. The Sixth Form Team and Personal Tutors are on hand to deal with matters on a daily basis. However, if more assistance is required the Connexions advisers have access to a large number of services and students can make appointments to see them at any time.

EDUCATION MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE

EMA is now defunct (apart from Yr13s who had it last year). New students to Yr12 can apply for the Post 16 Bursary instead.
