In the Modern Foreign Languages Department at Malbank everyone has the opportunity to study French from year 7 and many pupils take up German or Spanish in year 8. We offer French, German and Spanish at GCSE and A level and have a fantastic range of extra-curricular opportunities for our learners to get involved in. Here’s a few of them…
- The Year 8 trip to Paris- 4 days in Paris seeing the sights, practising French skills and having a bit of fun at Disneyland!
- The German Exchange- The exchange with a school in Raunheim, Germany, celebrated its 40th anniversary last year.
- Trips to Bentley- Pupils studying German in Years 8 to 10 get the chance to visit Bentley Motors to find out about careers using their language skills.
- Year 9 and 10 University Visits- We take language students in years 9 and 10 to get a taste of university life at Manchester University and find out more about where a degree in a language could take them.
- Russian Club- every Tuesday with Mrs Struthers
- European Film Club- Every Friday with Miss Punter
- Sixth Form Work Experience- All students studying AS/A2 French, German or Spanish will get the opportunity to take part in work experience abroad
