AS Media is an exciting course aimed at creative students who are interested in learning more about the media in general and maybe interested in a career in journalism, film, T.V, radio or marketing.

The AS AQA Specification

2 modules

Unit 1 50%

 

Section A is an analysis of an unseen media text such as web-site, film trailer, magazine or opening sequence of a T.V programme.

Section B is a case study examination including an in-depth study of Broadcast Fiction and how film and T.V is marketed.

Unit 2 50%

 

Unit 2 is a practical production. AQA give 3 briefs and students choose one to produce.

GCSE

GCSE Media studies is an exciting mix of practical and theoretical study.  There is the opportunity to produce magazines, short films, advertising campaigns and web – based projects.  There is an examination in Year 11 on a pre – released topic and requires essay style and practical responses to two questions.  The examination is worth 50% of the GCSE. The practical coursework is worth 50% and students work with Publisher, Powerpoint and Paintshop on the PC system and iMovie on our Apple Macbooks.
