Music Tuition
Music has long been proven to have many benefits, from improved concentration, cognition, memory and coordination, to improved social and team working skills, and there are many scientific studies to support this. Research by Cambridge University suggests students with a background in learning musical instruments achieve higher GCSE results (A grade higher in 1-2 subject).
It’s also a fun social activity which enables students to meet new people and make new friends. We have a thriving community of young musicians in the music block, and we would love for new students to get involved.
At Malbank we offer a wide range of music instrumental lessons, delivered by our team of experienced and dedicated musicians. Whether you're picking up an instrument for the first time or looking to sharpen your skills, our tutors will tailor your lessons to suit you.
If you would like to know more information on lesson fees, please follow the relevant links below. To sign up for lessons, please click on the relevant instrument/name complete the forms and we will get in contact with you.
- Piano - Mr Morley
- Guitar, bass and drums - Mr Rushton
- Clarinet, flute and saxophone - Mrs Rowland
- Brass - Mrs Burrell
- String - Ms Smith
- Singing - Mrs Palethorpe
Please note that our instrumental teachers are not employed directly by Malbank and most are employed on a private basis – this makes it more cost-effective for the teachers and parents. Payment is made directly to the teachers and not to Malbank School. Subsidies may be available for students eligible for pupil premium funding. Please contact Mr Cope to discuss if this is possible at [email protected]
Lessons take place during school time, which can include form time, break or lunch if students prefer (although we cannot always guarantee this). The practice rooms in the music block can be booked by students at break and lunch for practice time.
