These boots are made for walking

Over the early May bank holiday weekend, Kasia Y7 hiked the Peak District's Gritstone Trail. She set out on Saturday from Disley carrying backpacks with camping gear and completed the 56km walk in three days. The trail led from Disley through the beautiful Lyme Park to Bollington and the White Nancy (apparently the name of the folly was named to honour the lead horse which helped build it) then further towards quarries of Tegg's Nose and Macclesfield Forest, where she camped the first night. On the second day the trail took her though wonderful rolling hills in full spring colour with new lambs playing which felt like walking through Tolkien's Shire. After a very cold night on the Cloud she moved on towards Mow Cop and then along the Macclesfield canal to Kidsgrove.
It was a challenge for Kasia who never before carried a heavy backpack for such a long distance, but provided with sufficient volume of hot chocolate and a regular supply of flapjacks she managed not to complain too much and certainly enjoyed the company of local farm animals, especially the horses she met on the way.
Well done Kasia - what a fantastic achievement, we hope you feel really proud of yourself.
