Students celebrated an excellent set of A'Level results, with Headteacher John Harrison describing the outcomes as “fantastic.”

Mr Harrison said: “We are immensely proud of this year’s Year 13 cohort. Their achievements are brilliant, and it has been a true privilege to work with such a wonderful group of young people as they move on to the next stage of their lives.”

Results were strong across the board, continuing the sustained improvement seen within the Sixth Form. There was a pleasing increase in top A/A* equivalent grades and a significant rise in the average point score compared to previous years, ensuring students are well placed for their next steps.

Mr Harrison added: “It is wonderful to see that we have sustained our journey of improvement in the Sixth Form. More importantly, virtually all of our students woke up this morning to find they had already secured their first-choice destination, reflecting the national picture.”

As always, Malbank students will now progress to an exciting range of destinations and courses across the country. Including William Gardner who achieved an amazing set of results (A*, A*, A*) having already started an accountancy apprenticeship earlier this week, and Kian Gopal (A*, A, B) who is off to the University of Leeds to study Maths. With A*, A, B (plus an A in her EPQ), Ellie-May Shenton will be studying English Literature at Nottingham University and Josh Winters leaves Malbank to read Law at Birmingham having achieved A*BB.

Reflecting on the success of the cohort, Head of Sixth Form Craig Batty said: “The Class of 2026 are a wonderful group of young people, and we are delighted by their achievements today. They have worked incredibly hard throughout their time with us and deserve every success. Whatever their starting point, the overwhelming majority have achieved or exceeded their potential and have been rewarded with fantastic opportunities for the future. We will miss them immensely.”

Looking back on the students’ journey through the school and Sixth Form College, Mr Harrison added: “These results are a powerful reflection of the success of our inclusive approach to Sixth Form education. When students, staff and families work together, and young people commit themselves to their goals, there is no limit to what can be achieved. Their determination, resilience and ambition have enabled them to enjoy some truly remarkable successes this summer, and we look forward to seeing all they accomplish in the years ahead.”

From all at Malbank, massive congratulations and the best of luck for your next chapters.

Our year 12 students studying for their WJEC Level 3 Diploma in Criminology, have been busy creating crime scenes in a shoebox. They then created a presentation on how to consolidate their learning of personnel and investigative techniques. They will then be using them in September when they look at how different types of evidence are collected, writing reports from their scenes.

I am sure you agree they have done a fabulous job.

This week Malbank competed in the South Cheshire Athletics Competition. The Town Sports competition returned to the Cumberland Arena in Crewe, and our goal was simple: to enter every event and compete to the best of our ability. Our incredible students went one step further—they won the entire competition for the first time in the school’s history!

We competed against Alsager, Brine Leas, Holmes Chapel, Ruskin, Sandbach Boys, Sandbach Girls, Shavington, Sir William Stanier, St Thomas More and The Oaks, making this achievement even more impressive.

We are all incredibly proud of every student who represented the school today. All the students have achieved something monumental. Every one of them was a credit to the school through their attitude, behaviour and determination.

"Having taught for nearly 20 years, I can honestly say I have never come across a nicer group of students. They fully deserve every bit of praise and recognition that comes their way. They have been outstanding ambassadors for our school, and we couldn't be prouder of them." (Mr Smithson)
