The Highs and Lows of Football
Published 13/05/26Firstly, we are incredibly proud of everyone involved this evening. Reaching Finals Night with three teams is a fantastic achievement and a real testament to the hard work, commitment, and dedication shown throughout the season.
What a night it was.
The Year 7 Boys started the evening in outstanding fashion with a superb 2–1 victory over Congleton to become Cheshire Champions. Noah scored both goals in a brilliant team performance.
The Year 8 boys were heartbreakingly denied after leading 2–1 with only minutes remaining. Congleton managed to equalise before scoring the winner straight from the restart. The boys gave everything and worked incredibly hard to put themselves in a winning position, making the result even tougher to take. Our goals were scored by Nathan and George D.
Finally, the Year 9 Boys were beaten 4–1 by a very strong Shavington side, with Evan scoring our consolation goal.
A huge thank you to all the parents who came along to support the teams, and to Mr Kilalee, Mr Lloyd, Mr Allcroft, and Mrs Kirk-Bradshaw for managing the sides throughout the evening.
We go again next season.
Mr Smithson

The girls were absolutely outstanding and fully deserved their victory. Their final will be at Congleton High School on Tuesday 12th May 4pm ko. Special mention to Rose who stepped in at the last minute to deputise for Gabi in goal and was brilliant. Well done girls.

Football Finalists
Published 06/05/26Congratulations to the Year 8 boys on their excellent 2–1 victory over Shavington in the Cheshire Schools League semi-final. After finishing top of Division 2, the team faced a strong Shavington side who placed second in Division 1 this season.
The match began with sustained pressure from the opposition, but the boys showed resilience and took the lead through a well-executed goal from Leo. Shavington equalised in the second half. However, the team responded superbly, with Leo securing the win with an outstanding 20-yard strike into the top corner.
The result sees the Year 8 boys progress to the final, which will take place next Tuesday at Congleton High. This is a well-deserved achievement and reflects their hard work and commitment throughout the season. There were some outstanding performances tonight. Kier was immense in goal, Leo was a real match winner but Will K-P had the game of the season, he was unbelievable and my man of the match.
On the other pitch, the Year 10 boys were unfortunately defeated 4–1 in their semi-final. After trailing 4–0 at half-time, they demonstrated improved performance and determination in the second half, but were unable to recover the deficit.
That means the Year 7, 8 and 9 Boys teams have all reached the final of the Cheshire School league taking place at Congleton High on Tuesday 12th May kicking off at 4pm.

Sixth Form Football
Published 29/04/26A huge well done to our 6th form football team for their fantastic effort today.
A special mention must go to Caden, who showed outstanding leadership by organising the team, ensuring players were looked after with drinks, and representing the school brilliantly. He was a real credit to Malbank.
The boys conducted themselves impeccably throughout — polite, respectful, and giving their very best against a very strong Congleton side.
Our students showed exceptional attitude, effort, and sportsmanship. We are incredibly proud of you all!
