On Monday 22nd May, we came together to congratulate our Year 13 students on everything that they have achieved in their time with us.

Highlights included:

Presentation of college, faculty, and subject awards – these were chosen by teachers for a variety of academic and personal triumphs. The winners of the Distinction Awards (for outstanding achievement in one or more of the subjects in that category) were as follows:

Award

Winner

Social Sciences and MFL

Elin Collier

STEM (hopefully to be renamed “The Phil Johnson Prize” in future years)

James Hall

Arts and Humanities

Levi Rhodes-Mckenzie

Abi Gardiner-Clarke

The inaugural winner of the flagship prize: the “Herbert Rowsell Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement” was Ellie Stretch.

Student-nominated award results – highlights included a double win for Millie Walker, and a very popular ‘Couple that should have been’ award which was shared by Will Lacey and Ted Mottram.

Students’ ‘Memories of Malbank’ were provided by Student Union President Ellie Horsley and Levi Rhodes-Mckenzie. We were also treated to a range of Year 13 Media videos, and a montage of primary school photographs that showed just how much the students had changed over their time with us!

The keynote speaker was David Rowsell. The son of our longest-serving Headteacher, David presented the Herbert Rowsell Award to Ellie on behalf of his family.

The event was capped off by musical performances from our talented students Archie Lea, Beth Copeland and Levi Rhodes-Mckenzie.

Overall, a wonderful night that showcased the best that Malbank has to offer. Thanks to all the students, parents, carers and guests for attending – we wish Year 13 all the luck in the world for the rest of their exams and their post-Malbank futures.
