At Malbank Sixth Form College we offer a popular, expanding and very successful Sixth Form for students from a wide variety of backgrounds. We care about students’ academic and personal development and are committed to providing a friendly and supportive environment where each student may achieve their potential.
Our close working relationships with universities see our students secure places on competitive courses such as law and medicine. Our Oxbridge programme and one to one UCAS guidance programme mean you get the best start to University life possible. This guidance doesn’t stop there though, our strong links with local, regional and national businesses mean students considering apprenticeships and the world of work can begin their careers with confidence. All students are encouraged to study wider qualifications such as EPQ’s and we ensure high quality work experience is undertaken.
Our current Ofsted rating of Good notes that the Sixth Form is a strength of the school, is well led and teaching is typically strong. We are very proud that the strength of relationships between students and teachers were highlighted
They also recognised that:
“Teachers have a clear understanding of their students’ progress and take the necessary steps to support, deepen and extend their learning. Students respond positively to teachers’ well-matched and high expectations and, as result, work with care and precision. Their attitudes to learning are typically strong.”
To achieve this, we have dedicated resources and facilities for private study; including dedicated Sixth Form computer suites, our own common room and silent study provision. We also have a Pastoral Support Team for our students to access, as we are fully aware that many will need additional support alongside their studies.
Our Sixth Form students have a lot to contribute to the wider school community; the pastoral system is organised into forms and our Sixth Formers have additional responsibilities to act as mentors and buddies to younger students, supporting their academic and personal development.
It is a privilege to lead and support the next generation and the team here at Malbank are committed to providing each and every student with the best sixth form experience they could wish for. We look forward to meeting you.
