Careers Programme

The Careers Team and I have just completed a review of the school's Careers and Destinations provision, and we are looking for support from parents/carers/friends of the school.

If you are able to support with any of the following, please indicate this via the MS Form that can be found here: https://forms.office.com/e/BRKghBWmMT

  • Facilitating work experience placements in the next academic year for students in Years 10 and/or 12

  • Speaking to students (remotely or in-person) about your job, career or destination journey

  • Supporting Careers Fairs and/or Careers-themed school events

  • Any other aspect of our Careers and Destinations provision.

Equally, if you have friends, colleagues, or family members who may be able to help us, please feel free to pass this on to them.

If you would like to discuss any of this in more detail, please feel free to contact Mr Batty at school via email: [email protected] or phone (01270 611009).

Thank you in advance for your support,

What’s Next?”: Making the links between education and a future career

Here at Malbank School and Sixth Form College, we have made a commitment to ensure that all of our students acquire the skills, knowledge and attitudes to manage their learning and career progression. Through a range of effective careers guidance activities, we aim to support our students to achieve positive, appropriate destination choices and have the qualifications and employability skills to meet their needs.

What are the Gatsby Benchmarks?

The Gatsby Benchmarks were developed on behalf of the Gatsby Foundation by Sir John Holman. They define what world-class careers provision in education looks like and provide a clear framework for organising the careers provision at your school or college.

The benchmarks are enshrined in statutory guidance and as a Careers Leader, it is your responsibility to oversee the implementation of the benchmarks in your education setting.

The 8 Gatsby Benchmarks are:

A stable careers programme

Learning from careers and labour market information

Addressing the needs of each student

Linking curriculum learning to careers

Encounters with employers and employees

Experiences of workplaces

Encounters with further and higher education

Personal guidance
